Northwestern Coach doesn't think team is overconfident for tonight's game
Feb. 10, 2010 10:31 am
Northwestern Coach Bill Carmody doesn't think his team will be overconfident tonight in facing Iowa. The Wildcats (16-7, 5-6 Big Ten) are gunning for its first NCAA Tournament, while Iowa (8-16, 2-9) is playing out the string.
"We really haven't done anything yet," Carmody said. "We're 5-6 in the conference, and so I don't think I have to worry about my guys feeling like they have big heads or anything.
"We've played pretty decently, I'd say. We still have so much to get done and you're not even .500 in your own conference. I don't think that will be a problem."
Iowa leads Northwestern 62-16 in games in Iowa City. The teams have split their last 10 meetings, including last year's two games. That's why Carmody is concerned about tonight's game.
"If we're a good team, good teams win on the road," he said. "So we're going to have to do that."
