Howard W. Bird, 79, of Oelwein, died Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein, with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, with military honors by Aurora American Legion Post 435 in Aurora.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
