Support LOST to maintain our streets

I support the local-option sales tax extension.
First of all, we need greater proactive maintenance on our streets.
Second, by using the local-option sales tax, we are employing a more fiscally conservative route in funding this need. Rather than using debt, which has been the method historically, we will move to a “pay as you go” plan. We will save money on interest expense.
Third, it shares the responsibility over a larger audience without being overly burdensome. Property tax increases on Cedar Rapids businesses and residents cannot continue to be the medicine of choice in funding infrastructure needs (streets) that benefit a broader audience.
