Cedar Rapids man burned in Ely garage fire

A Cedar Rapids man suffered burns when a spark ignited gasoline in an Ely garage late Thursday, authorities said.
Benjamin W. Cooper, 21, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, authorities said.
The garage fire at 1660 Walker St. was reported just before 8:30 p.m. According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Cooper and the home owner, Carl L. Svec, 21, were working on a car when the the fire broke out.
Svec refused medical attention at the scene. An investigation was continuing.
