Reclaim power from government
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 16, 2012 12:44 am
The parents at Polk Elementary School seemed surprised with the school board vote Monday. I wonder why. The school board and city council in this town have shown a complete lack of interest in what the people want.
The Gazette (Editorial Board) is pleased that the state probably will leave speed cameras alone. Do you remember voting on this? How about same-sex marriage? Did you want (a portion) of Second Avenue closed?
Most of us are willing to go along with the majority. The people who tried to promote the March 6 local-option sales tax extension vote are not interested in working with the people who had other ideas on how this should be attained.
It's time the people of Cedar Rapids took back some of the power of government.
