First red light camera in Cedar Rapids to go live at midnight

A green light has been given to turn the first red light and speed camera on in Cedar Rapids.

Street East, Cedar Rapids police said.
Violators will receive a warning violation for the next 30 days, at the end of which violators will be fined and expected to either pay the fine or proceed through the appeals process.
Each violator will receive a letter with instructions on how to view their violation on line and make their decision on how to proceed.
