Dave Loebsack will always stand up for seniors and for seniors' issues. The economy has been difficult for those who are living on a fixed income, and I appreciate all the things Dave has done. I know that seniors didn't receive a cost of living adjustment this year.
Luckily, Dave has done several things within his power to help ease the burden.
First, he has signed up for a bill that would decrease his own pay by 5 percent. This shows how much he cares about the country -- he is willing to take a cut. If this were to happen, it would be the first cut in the pay of members of Congress in 77 years.
Second, Dave has signed onto a bill that would give seniors a $250 check next year in case there isn't a cost of living adjustment next year.
He also is an avid supporter of senior nutrition programs and helped pass a bill which included his amendment to help seniors find the best possible long-term care.
Dave Loebsack grew up in poverty, and he knows first hand how important Social Security is for so many Americans. Dave Loebsack will always stand up for us. I look forward to casting my vote for him in November.
