Two Iowa City residents were hurt when the motorcycle they were riding hit a deer north of Solon late Wednesday.
Robert Cook, 63, and Cynthia Cook, 52, were westbound on 140th Street about a mile east of Highway 1 around 8:15 p.m., according to the Iowa State Patrol's report. That's when the deer came into their path and they collided with it.
Robert Cook, who was driving the motorcycle, was flown by lifeguard helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Cynthia Cook went to the same hospital by private vehicle for treatment of her injuries. Information about their conditions was not immediately available.
Both riders were wearing helmets, according to the state patrol.
