MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - Humane Society officials in northern Iowa say they have a home for a dog found shot through the face and leg last winter near Charles City.
The Humane Society of North Iowa took in the beagle, named Hope, after she was found on the side of the road. One of the dog's legs was amputated and she spent weeks recovering in a foster home. Now Human Society of North Iowa executive director Sybil Soukup says Hope has an adoptive family.
Soukup says the group had received cards and letters wishing the dog well. She says the group couldn't have asked for a happier ending for the beagle.
