Gov. Branstad scheduled to have minor surgery

Dec. 26, 2014 2:51 pm
DES MOINES - Gov. Terry Branstad is scheduled next week for routine surgery to treat varicose veins in his legs, his office said Friday.
Branstad will undergo the outpatient procedure on Monday, his office said. Branstad's expected recovery time is roughly one week, during which he will reduce the amount of time spent on his feet.
Because of the surgery, Branstad has no public events scheduled for next week. The governor's office said Branstad will be available for business calls and meetings as needed. He will return to his regular schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Branstad is scheduled to give his annual condition of the state address to the Iowa Legislature on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
