McGinness, Lucille N.
Lucille N. McGinness, 92, formerly of Coralville, died at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 5 to7 p.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or the charity of your choice.
Lucille was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Washington, Kan., the daughter of John and Jessie Seifert Palmer. She was raised in Washington and Omaha. On July 14, 1941, Lucille was united in marriage to Edgar McGinness. Edgar died Feb. 4, 1999. Lucille had been employed by Jaydon Distributing, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries. Lucille liked to do needlepoint, garden and especially enjoyed the time spent bowling with friends at Coral Lanes.
She will be greatly missed.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Greenwood Manor for the care they provided to Lucille.
Lucille is survived by her two sons, Ed (Janaan) McGinness and Jim McGinness, both of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Bryan (Andrea) McGinness, Angie McGinness and Jeff (Jami) McGinness; six great-grandchildren, Keagan, Alexandra, Connor, Gavin, Aiden and Addison; and her sister, Maxine McGinness of Phoenix.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband; and three siblings, Pauline, Imogene and Marvin.
