Care of veterans should be a priority

Regarding the July 20 letter 'Branstad wrong to refuse refugees” by Libby Gotschall Slappey, I must say that I strongly agree with Gov. Terry Branstad.
No, I don't dislike children. I am a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. But to bring in illegal people into our country is just that, illegal.
What about our servicemen and women who went to fight for our freedom? A lot of them came back blind, disfigured, some lost arms, some lost legs and some long their lives. Our country does not seem to have adequate medical care to care for our own servicemen and women.
Not long ago there was an article in the paper on the veterans hospitals. Some people had to wait 60 to 90 days to see a doctor and some died before they could get the care they needed. Let's help the men and women who fought for our freedom before we consider bringing in other people who we can't afford to care for.
I am not a Republican backing the governor, but right is right and wrong is wrong. The governor is right in what he is doing in this matter.
