Hlas' AP ballot for Week 10
Mike Hlas Nov. 8, 2009 11:22 am
This was the hardest one yet this season. After the six unbeatens ... I dunno.
I almost jumped TCU past Alabama for third on my ballot. Good Gawd, why? Because TCU has been a killing machine, and has played just as many teams currently ranked in the Top 25 (one) as 'Bama. Plus, I don't think Western Athletic Conference officials are ... never mind.
I can't believe I still have Iowa in the Top Ten (at No. 10), but it has just one loss in 10 games. Who of the two-loss teams should be higher?
USC, which limped to a 14-9 win over Arizona State Saturday night after getting clubbed into submission at Oregon the week before? Oregon, which gave up 51 points in losing at Stanford? LSU, which has no win against a team that's currently ranked?
Here's my ballot:
1. Florida
2. Texas
3. Alabama
4. TCU. I jumped the Horned Frogs ahead of Cincinnati. Look at TCU's scores. That is a team on a mission.
5. Cincinnati
6. Boise State
7. Georgia Tech
8. Ohio State. Clearly has found some mojo.
9. Pittsburgh. The 8-1 Panthers have five straight wins, most of the convincing variety.
10. Iowa. Beat Ohio State, and 93.4 percent of the world is shocked. Even North Korea.
11. Oregon
12. LSU
13. USC
14. Houston. You win 46-45 at Tulsa, you both giggle and sweat all the way home.
15. Miami
16. Penn State. What an egg the Nittany Lions laid against Ohio State.
17. Oklahoma State
18. Arizona
19. Wisconsin
20. Utah
21. Stanford
22. BYU
23. South Florida
24. West Virginia
25. Temple. Seven straight wins including one over Navy, which won at Notre Dame Saturday.
