New parking amenity program offers security escort, vehicle help

Beginning July 27, those using downtown parking lots and ramps can get a free security escort or help with vehicle problems.

The new Parking Amenity Program is available to those with monthly parking permits and other visitors using city-owned parking facilities, including all surface lots and the Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue, Ground Transportation Center and Five Seasons parkades.

The new program will provide services such as jump starts, tire inflation and security escorts at no cost. Professional services such as towing, tire changes and assistance with lockouts will also be available for a fee.

Also beginning Tuesday, full-time Cedar Rapids Parking security personnel will monitor parking facilities from 8 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Saturday.

The security personnel will patrol all parkades and surface lots, as well as skywalks.

Parkers in need of security assistance or amenity program services can call the Parking Amenity Hotline at (319) 654-1998.

Hours of operation for security personnel and parker assistance programs will be Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight.
