Ex-Wash star Arrington now on Saints' active roster
Jan. 20, 2010 1:03 pm
Former Cedar Rapids prep Adrian Arrington was signed to the New Orleans Saints' 53-man roster Wednesday from the team's practice squad, just in time to prepare for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against Minnesota.
Arrington, 24, will wear No. 87 in the game. He caught 100 career passes for 1,547 yards and 23 touchdowns at Cedar Rapids Washington. He started 18 games at Michigan and finished with 109 catches for 1,438 yards and 16 touchdowns.
The Saints drafted Arrington (6 feet, 3 inches, 192 pounds) in the 2008 draft's seventh round, but Arrington was placed on injured reserve. He had spent the 2009 season on the Saints' practice squad.
It's undetermined if he'll play in the game. Only 47 of a team's 53 players are active on game day. Arrington replaces running back Deuce McAlister, who retired earlier this week.
