Leave traffic camera decision to the cities
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Some municipalities have devised a way to control traffic in a cheaper and more dependable way. This saves money by using police officers for other duties and creating work for private businesses that install and maintain the cameras.
Now, because certain people do not want to take responsibility for their driving habits, some legislators want to declare traffic control cameras illegal. What does this teach our younger generation about responsibility? It's OK to break the law but just don't get caught. This is one of the times I do not think Big Brother state government ought to be taking over municipal ideas. State government also has a duty to protect its citizens and it would be failing big time by banning traffic control cameras.
