An Iowa City man is accused of selling cocaine to undercover officers multiple times over the last nine months.
According to police complaints, an undercover officer met with 39-year-old Juan Vazquez, of 113 Apache Trail, at his residence on Jan. 9. Police said they bought two eighths of an ounce of cocaine from Vazquez.
Police continued to buy cocaine from Vazquez throughout the year. On Jan. 17, they purchased an eighth of an ounce for $200. On Feb. 1, an undercover officer bought an ounce of cocaine from Vazquez for $1,100.
On Thursday, members of the Johnson County Drug Task Force served a warrant at Vazquez's home and found an ounce of cocaine, as well as a digital scale and packaging materials. Vazquez allegedly admitted to police that he sells cocaine.
Vazquez faces four counts of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, a class C felony punishable by 10 years in prison; and Iowa drug tax stamp violation, a class D felony, punishable by 5 years in prison. He remains in custody at the Johnson County Jail.
