Zirkelbach, Doris I.
Doris I. Zirkelbach, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Pastor Jean Bruinsma will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Surviving are her three children, Mark (Mary) of Johnston, Steve (Cris) and Jim, all of Center Junction; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; two brothers, Marvin and Glenn; and infant sister, Vera Lacock.
Doris Irene Lacock was born Jan. 12, 1924, near Martelle, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Ethel Neal Lacock. Doris received her early education in Martelle School. She graduated from the Martelle High School with the class of 1941. Doris then attended Anderson Business College in Cedar Rapids and worked for Merchants Motor Freight after graduation. Doris and Jack Zirkelbach were married on August 15, 1943 in the home of her brother, Marvin in Scotch Grove. The couple farmed on the their family farm for 57 years. After her husbands death in 2000, she continued to live on the farm until she moved to Pennington Square in Monticello this fall.
Doris was a member of the Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church and the U.P.W. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and played the church organ. Doris was baptized and confirmed her faith at Linn Grove Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing the piano.
