The “E-Thursday Folder” has debuted at Gibson Elementary School. The Web site link provides digital copies of communication materials traditionally sent home with students in the school's “Thursday Folder.” It is intended to reduce the amount of paper used by the school.
Instead of printing hundreds of copies, flyers and other communication pieces are now scanned and posted online for families to access. Printed versions are still available upon request but more than 300 families have expressed an interested in using the e-folder information only since the program was introduced last winter.
“The savings and environmental impact of the program will be significant,” explained Kevin Uhde, Principal. “Not only will our school save on paper but we'll also save on printing costs. Outside organizations providing flyers to us will save on paper costs, as well.”
The decision to offer materials electronically was based on a survey of Gibson families.
