Brian Garbe
Brian Wayne Garbe, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in a Bottineau, N.D., hospital. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Metigoshe Lutheran Church in Bottineau. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Cedar Rapids.
Brian Garbe, a son of Carl and Eldora (Larson) Garbe, was born at Minot, N.D., on July 8, 1953. He attended and graduated from Minot High School. Brian then attended Minot State College for one year, then attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. After graduation he moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he worked at Rockwell Collins Aviation for the past 34 years.
He was a member of Sig Tau fraternity while attending Minot State College. Brian was very gifted in music trivia and his knowledge was stellar when it came to the “Oldies.” He had a fondness for Lake Metigoshe, visiting friends and relatives every summer. Brian was an avid outdoorsman, participating in baseball, volleyball, bowling and downhill skiing. He was a longtime member of the East Iowa Ski Club.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Neal) of Cedar Rapids; father, Carl Garbe of Fargo; sisters, Karen Hickerson and her friend, Todd Griffith, of Minneapolis and Lori Garbe of Fargo, N.D.; a brother-in-law, Gary Thuner of Minot; and many nieces and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Eldora; and sister, Marlene Thuner.

A celebration of life will be Thursday, Aug. 8, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Chrome Horse, 1202 Third St. SE, in Cedar Rapids.
