A Thanksgiving thought for you

To the editor:
This Thanksgiving is especially thought-provoking. Life is so precious and wonderful.
Thanksgiving represents more than turkey and dressing and yams and pumpkin pie. It represents how lucky we are to be together and to be able to talk to each other and have a meal together with friends and family who we haven't seen in maybe a year or two or longer. It represents how lucky we are to be alive and able to enjoy our children and our brothers and sisters on a daily basis. There are many who no longer have that privilege. There are children who no longer have parents to guide them or to be able to enjoy parent and child relationships to build fond memories.
Life and death is so deep and fragile that most people don't want to even think about it. But Thanksgiving is that time of year when you are around those who you love. Just being around them is a wonderful feeling. To know you can talk and exchange family stories and watch football together, or whatever you might think of. They are there and you are thankful for that. Here is wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving. May you enjoy a truly meaningful time with your family and friends. I wish for you all the turkey and all the trimmings that you want, but mostly I wish for you the privilege of this time with your loved ones. Those times are precious.
