Oct. 29, 2012 2:24 pm
The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library (NCSML) will show footage presenting Slovaks' and Czechs' memories of World War II. The event, entitled "Remembering World War II," will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 and is free and open to the public.
Through its oral history project, the NCSML has captured stories of life under Nazi occupation and on the Eastern Front. Footage presented will address some of the realities of life during wartime: forced labor, food shortages and encountering troops. Memories from guests are welcome. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Margaret Haupt, professor emerita of political science at Coe College.
To RSVP, email Rosie Johnston at rjohnston@NCSML.org. This event is made possible by a grant from Humanities Iowa, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
