A robbery trial for a man accused of robbing a liquor store in September has been reset to April 9 in Linn County District Court.
Jeremy Dyson, 18, pleaded not guilty in November to first-degree robbery. He and Aaron Jackson Jr., 22, both of Cedar Rapids, are accused of robbing Point Liquor and Tobacco, 4107 Center Point Rd. NE, on Sept. 15, according to a criminal complaint.
Jackson's trial remains set for Jan. 23.
According to a police report, two masked men entered the store shortly after midnight and forced a clerk to get on the floor. Owner Javed Khan, 37, said the robbers took about $2,800 in cash from the register, along with several bottles of liquor and cigarettes.
Jackson is accused of pointing a gun at the clerk and threatening to kill him, according to court documents. Police identified Jackson through a surveillance photo and later linked Dyson to the crime when they found his fingerprints at the crime scene.
Officers arrested Dyson after a later burglary, when Dyson was caught attempting to pawn the stolen goods. He also was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree theft.
In October, while Dyson was in jail, police said he threatened to beat a witness and was then charged with tampering with a witness, an aggravated misdemeanor.
A trial date is set for the burglary, theft and tampering charges Feb. 6.
Dyson remains in jail in lieu of a $47,500 bond.
