Nerison, Gary Charles

Gary Charles Nerison, 46, died suddenly at home in Des Moines on Saturday, July 17, 2010, during a short illness. Once absent from the body, he was present with the Lord. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Fellowship Baptist Church in Des Moines. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines.

Gary was born Feb. 2, 1964, in Cedar Rapids. After moving to Des Moines, he graduated from Grandview Park Baptist High School in 1982 before joining the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Hawaii and Alaska, then settled in Des Moines, where he has worked for Tone's Spices since 1995. Gary was a graduate of Hamilton College. He enjoyed woodworking and attending car races and the Iowa State Fair. He was a devoted fan of Hawkeye sports and the Dallas Cowboys.

Those left to cherish Gary's memory include his wife of 23 years, Sharon Nerison; son, Geoff, and daughter, Jessica, all of Des Moines; parents, Charlie and Bobbie Nerison, and brother, Tracy Nerison, all of Cedar Rapids; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric.
