Former Hawkeye Smith gone at Tennessee

Tennessee men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl announced Friday that former Iowa player Tyler Smith has been dismissed from his team.

Smith, a senior, was arrested last week and charged with illegal gun possession after a traffic stop in Knoxville. Three

teammates also were charged with crimes that involved drugs and alcohol.

Smith played one year at Iowa before transferring to be near his ailing father, who later died.
