City to host Resident Appreciation Day at downtown farmers’ market on June 2

The City of Cedar Rapids invites all residents to attend Resident Appreciation Day at the Downtown Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 2, from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Free gifts will be given to the first 1,000 residents who stop by either of the two City booth locations:
- Three large tents in Greene Square Park
- Two City booths near the intersection of 4th Avenue and 3rd Street SE
The City will hold drawings for prizes, host activities for kids and provide information for adults. Plus, several City vehicles will be on display at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 5th Street SE near Greene Square Park.
In addition, residents are invited to:
- Register to win a free family swim pass
- Take the City Manager's 1-Bag Challenge and sign up for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Hy-Vee
- Play the new game: “Litterball” – Can you prevent the litter from hitting the ground?
- Win a prize at our prairie planting game and learn how you can help the Parks and Recreation Department gather prairie seed for future prairie plantings
- Meet Otto the river otter, the Parks and Recreation Department's mascot
- Meet the firefighters and police officers that keep you safe every day
- See how a fire truck and police car work
- Get a refreshing glass of award-winning water at our water station.
- Take a break from the weather on one of the new high-efficiency buses
- Practice loading and unloading a bike from the bus bike rack
- Learn about iGreenCR and how the City is investing in our next generation
- Learn about summer recreation programs and events for all ages
