Hermsen shines in pro debut

Jun. 25, 2009 4:54 pm
Former West Delaware prep B.J. Hermsen threw six perfect innings Wednesday in his professional baseball debut.
Hermsen, 19, was the first of three pitchers for the Minnesota Twins Gulf Coast League team that combined to throw a no-hitter against the GCL Orioles. Hermsen retired all 18 hitters he faced, striking out three.
Hermsen was a sixth-round draft pick of the Twins in 2008 who signed for a $650,000 bonus. He began his professional career with spring training this year.
