Siebels, Celena
Celena Siebels, 92, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 9, 2010, at Silver Crest of Anamosa. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, with interment in Wayne Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. The Rev. Bill Nielsen will officiate at the services.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane Siebels, Nassau, Bahamas; and a granddaughter, Katherine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; two brothers and three sisters.
Celena Marie Brockens was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Cass Township, Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of Gerhard and Amelia (Zickler) Brockens. Celena graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools with the class of 1936. She then attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids and received her teaching certificate. She taught for many years in the rural schools of Jones County. Celena Marie Brockens and Allen H. Siebels were married Aug. 20, 1941, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Anamosa, where Allen operated a trucking business and Celena worked at the Anamosa Care Center. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2000. Celena was a life long member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. She was baptized on March 10, 1918, and confirmed her faith on April 9, 1933. Celena was a Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of the Sarah Circle, the quilting group, and the Anamosa Hospital Auxiliary.
