Twins trade Kernels pitcher Sulbaran

Apr. 7, 2014 5:22 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - Miguel Sulbaran became part of the Cedar Rapids Kernels last season because of a trade. He departs this season for the same reason.
The parent Minnesota Twins announced Monday afternoon the left-handed pitcher was dealt to the New York Yankees organization for major league infielder Eduardo Nunez.
Sulbaran, 20, threw one shutout relief inning this season for Cedar Rapids. He went 3-0 with a 2.70 earned run average in four starts last season after the Twins acquired him from the Los Angeles Dodgers for catcher Drew Butera.
The Kernels were in route Monday to Michigan, where they play a three-game series that begins Tuesday against Great Lakes. There was no corresponding player move announced to replace Sulbaran on the active roster.
