To the editor:
Fine decision, Board of Regents. Your search for and selection of successful business executive Bruce Harreld required considerable timely vision, imagination and conviction. Very good work.
I agree with Jerre Stead: 'The world is changing and it's going to change faster. Having a business executive with fresh eyes is an appropriate fit ... someone with experience in changing and transforming is critical”.
I'm reminded of then Cornell College President Phil Secor's introduction of One Course At A Time. He said to his faculty, 'If you can't relate to plans we've announced, you should remove yourself from Cornell right now.”
UI's future has become greater, clearly, thanks to our Board of Regents' foresight and leadership. They know Harreld can attract like-minded replacements with ease.
