Ban on traffic cameras supports lawbreakers

I strongly oppose any efforts by the state to outlaw the use of traffic cameras. I drive through Cedar Rapids regularly, and the vast improvement in how people drive on Interstate 380 and on other streets is very visible and appreciated. I think we would be better served if even more cameras were installed and in use.
Gov. Terry Branstad's comment that he would sign a law banning traffic cameras supports law breakers. He and legislators supporting the ban should be ashamed.
How many millions of dollars would state and local governments have to spend to have enough 24-hour-a-day traffic enforcement to maintain the gains that have been made in areas using the cameras? There is no possibility of having enough manpower in place to provide the level of enforcement that the cameras do.
Let your legislators and the governor know that you want to keep the cameras and oppose any limitations on their use.
