Schulte to run for re-election

Jan. 28, 2010 6:16 pm
Rep. Renee Schulte, R-Cedar Rapids, has announced she will seek a second term in the Iowa House.
“Right now our state faces some difficult challenges,” said Schulte, who represents House 37, which covers much of northern Cedar Rapids. “In that difficulty, however, lies great opportunity for growth.”
Schulte, a strategic planning adviser at Four Oaks, is an adjunct professor of psychology at Mount Mercy College. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling and educational psychology from New Mexico State University.
Schulte serves on several boards focused on helping women and families, has been a licensed foster parent and worked as a family therapist for Four Oaks. She and her husband, Brent, are members of the Antioch Christian Church where he is the discipleship minister.
In the House, Schulte serves on the Human Resources, Judiciary and State Government committees.
Democrat Mark Seidel, a Cedar Rapids attorney, has announced he will challenge Schulte.
