An Iowa City man finally faces charges after he tried to kiss a Deli-Mart employee back in October.
Manuel Dominquez, 23, of 104 Westside Dr. No. 8 is being charged with assault, which is a simple misdemeanor.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on Oct. 8. A 21-year-old female employee at the 2410 Mormon Trek Blvd. convenience store was leaving work through the backway when Dominquez tried to make a move. Iowa City Police Sgt. Troy Kelsay said that Dominquez was a regular customer and knew the victim.
Dominquez allegedly tried to convince the victim to come home with him, and after she refused several times, he tried to kiss her.
The employee resisted and Dominquez tried to get the victim into the car. The victim escaped and contacted police. Dominquez insists that he was only flirting with the victim and that nothing else happened.
