Man seeks shelter for flock of wild NYC chickens

NEW YORK (AP) - Deliver these homeless chickens from the mean streets of New York City.
Ramon Lopez says he cares for a flock of mostly wild roosters and some hens in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx where he has worked for 24 years managing a parking lot.
He says he wants to find a shelter for the 75 or so birds that have made Lopez' lot their home. He says he doesn't know how much longer he can continue to care for them.
He says he spends $180 a month on cracked corn to feed them.
Farm Sanctuary's Susie Coston says that the national farm animal rescue organization is "inundated" with roosters.
She says it's likely that the birds will have to be tested for disease before being taken to shelters.
