Shotguns, rifles are enough for Iowans
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 22, 2012 10:49 am
There is no need for assault rifles, handguns or high-capacity magazines in our community. These are weapons of mass destruction. I am a gun owner and I strongly value rights in our Constitution, but the Second Amendment does not give us the right to own weapons of war.
Shotguns and some rifles are all that is needed to maintain Iowa's rich history for hunting and they can also be used for home or self-defense. I urge Iowans to contact their legislators in favor of strict gun and ammunition control.
