All-MVC boys’ soccer 2021: Anders Bergstrom, Kolby Godbolt are players of the year

Cedar Rapids Washington senior Anders Bergstrom (Mississippi Division) and Iowa City West senior Kolby Godbolt (Valley Division) are the 2021 Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ soccer athletes of the year.

Bergstrom totaled 15 goals and 17 assists for the Warriors (8-11). He’s signed to play NCAA Division I soccer at Drake.

Godbolt led a Trojans team that finished 20-2 and reached the Class 3A state final with 21 goals. He’ll continue his career at Iowa Central Community College.

Junior Jacob Schmidt of Cedar Falls and senior Jacob Cross of Cedar Rapids Jefferson were named goalkeepers of the year. Schmidt made 75 saves with .743 save percentage. Cross recorded 42 saves and a .700 save percentage.

Coaches of the year are Spencer Steffy of Cedar Falls and Mike Penning of Waterloo West.
