Red-light cameras look the other way for city officials? Tell it to Mayor Corbett
May. 10, 2010 4:15 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Some have suggested that city officials and employees here are immune from getting tickets courtesy of the city's new red-light and speed-enforcement cameras.
Tell it to Mayor Ron Corbett.
Corbett said one of the tickets has come to his house.
The culprit: He says it is his wife, Benedicte. One of the red-light cameras, which also measure speed, caught her speeding through a traffic light, the mayor reports. The allegation is she was going 42 mph in a 30-mph zone, he says.
