Cassaday, Betty M.
Betty M. Cassaday, 88, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at the Solon Care Center on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Donald (Sydney) Cassaday of Hemet, Calif., Susan Medberry of Cedar Rapids and Jill Cassaday of Iowa City; brother, Murray (Phyllis) Turnbull of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Evan (Erin) Cassaday, Brenna (John) Urrutia, Michael Cassaday and Kristy (Eric) Foelske; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, Leah and Kannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; three grandsons, Sean and Ryan Cassaday and Nicholas Medberry; and a son-in-law, Keith Medberry.
Betty was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Sibley, to John and Zola Turnbull. She married Donald Cassaday in Denison on May 2, 1944, while he was serving in the United States Army. Betty worked for many years at First Trust and Savings Bank. After retiring, she worked for Lens Crafters. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Betty loved her family, her friends, and all animals, most particularly cats and dogs.
She was much loved and will be deeply missed.
