Comment uproar shows state of universities today

The Iowa Board of Regents' recent scolding of University of Iowa President Sally Mason for stating that “ ... ending sexual violence on campus is ‘probably not a realistic goal, just given human nature,'?” is just another example of the disassociation between truth and higher education at progressive universities today.

Mason was chastised for telling the truth and being realistic. The notion that “student protesters characterize Mason's comments as hurtful and some on campus feel unsafe” seems a trivial attempt at attention grabbing.

College women who are truly concerned about sexual violence take common sense precautions, such as avoiding the types of gatherings most likely to produce this sort of activity. What has happened to truth, wisdom and common sense on college campuses today? They used to be desirable virtues.

Superficial posturing and trite emotionalism appears to have largely taken their place.
