An eyewitness report of the flooding at Iowa State
Mike Hlas Aug. 11, 2010 9:02 pm
Justin Cook of Marion is an Iowa State business management student who is a friend of the Hlog. He offered this report of what was going on with ISU athletics Wednesday because of flooding in Ames. Thanks much, Justin.
As you might imagine, it has been quite the day here in Ames. With regards to the athletic department the Olsen and Jacobson buildings took on little to no water.
I was in the basement of Jacobson around noon and it was 99% dry. Players were sandbagging from 7:00AM until around 11:00AM. and everything was moved to keep as much off the floors as possible in case water did come in. The football team is being bused to Huxley to shower and the managers are taking the laundry to Boone to be done.
The volleyball team is now practicing at a gym in West Ames, no word on when they will be able to return to Hilton, however it won't be for awhile. I was told at one point the floor in Hilton was floating on five or six feet of water.
