Severe mental illness is a local issue
My 12 yr old daughter is disabled due to severe mental illness. She is bipolar, has hallucinations, has ADHD, and anxiety disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and possible Pervasive Development Disorder. Thus affects every aspect of her life. School is harder, making friends is harder, being a member of the family is harder. It affects everyone around her. It causes emotional, financial, and physical strain on her immediate family.
