To the editor:
I have heard the complaints that there is nothing to do in Cedar Rapids for adults on a Saturday night. On Nov. 7, the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art gave its second annual Beaux Arts Ball. It was very nicely done and was a great deal of fun.
There was good food, an open bar for those who wanted it, and a good band. The galleries were open if anyone wanted to wander there. The theme this year tied into the Science Fiction and Fantasy exhibit that is on display so attendees could come in costume or could dress any way they cared to. The venue is intimate enough that you didn't need to know anyone; you could easily meet new and interesting people and have a good time.
The event is, of course, a fundraiser for the museum, but other than the ticket price, the evening was simply a low key good time for all who came.
The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is a jewel in the midst of Cedar Rapids that deserves support. This was such a great way to do that. However, though the event was nicely attended, it could have been much better attended. The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art gave a ball and you missed it. How sad.
