BURLINGTON - Miguel Hermosillo singled home Erick Salcedo with two outs in the 12th inning to give Burlington a 2-1 win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Sunday afternoon at Community Field.
Natanael Delgado singled off losing relief pitcher Sam Clay with one out in the 12th. Clay walked Brandon Gildea with two outs, Salcedo pinch ran for Delgado and scored from second on Hermosillo's single to center field.
The Kernels (7-4) have lost four of five after a 6-0 start to the Midwest League season. Three of the losses have been by a run, two in extra innings.
They were limited to five hits in this one.
Burlington (7-4) scored in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single by Hermosillo. Cedar Rapids tied it in the sixth on a Zack Larson groundout.
Kernels starting pitcher Felix Jorge allowed just five hits and a run in five innings, striking out nine. The teams conclude their three-game series Monday morning at 11:30.
The Kernels and parent Minnesota Twins announced pitcher Miles Nordgren has been added to the active roster from extended spring training. The right-hander was a 23rd-round draft pick last summer out of Birmingham-Southern who went 1-3 with a 2.23 ERA last season for the Gulf Coast League Twins (Rookie level).
He replaces John Curtiss, who was placed on the disabled list Saturday with a concussion.
The Twins also said major league pitcher Ricky Nolasco will make an injury rehabilitation start for the Kernels Saturday at home against Kane County. Nolasco made two rehab starts last season for Cedar Rapids.
