Public should decide how money is spent

Regarding 'It's Greene Square, not a park,” Oct. 16:
'Our dream,” as Monica Vernon calls it, seems to be a problem in this city when it comes to planning and redevelopment. Oh, yes, we have meetings for public input, but why don't we have votes on these issues instead?
Obviously, the money would not be wasted on such frivolous projects if the voters had a crack at it.
Maybe others have noted the downtown is beginning to look like a castle with streets cut off to the east (Third Avenue), the north, (Second Street) and the south (First Street) and closer in on Second Street by the bus station.
Soon we will be building a moat for this castle along with draw bridges so Monica Vernon and the rest of the people working on this 'dream” can hide from the peasants who are paying for it.
