What a great Saturday night at the ballpark!

Last night was the most fun I have had at a game this season. The Kernels won 6-5 in walk-off fashion over the Peoria Chiefs. A solo home run by Ricky Alvarez in the 9th inning with the game tied sent a large crowd of 4,168 home very pleased.
All six of the Kernels runs were scored with two outs.
--A two out 2-RBI single by Marcus Nidiffer in the 3rd inning
--A RBI double by Wes Hatton and a 2-run Home Run by Dan Eichelberger in the 6th inning with two outs
---Alvarez's walk-off homer came with two outs in the 9th inning
This game should carry a lot of momentum into the finish of the 1st half. Last night we saw what has been missing during this tough stretch of losing. Last night the team was able to get clutch hits in key situations.
The Kernels also got production from the bottom of the order. The 7,8, and 9 spots (Jerod Yakubik, Wes Hatton, and Dan Eichelberger) combined to go 6-12 with 3 RBI
All of a sudden the Kernels are only two games behind Peoria for the final wild card spot. Wisconsin dropped their 4th straight game last night, and Quad Cities was swept in a doubleheader. Here are the standings below:
Burlington 36-14
Peoria 27-22 (8.5 games back)
Wisconsin 26-23 (9.5 games back)
Cedar Rapids 25-24 (10.5 games back)
Quad Cities 25-24 (10.5 games back)
