Pressing issues, not Mars, need funding
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 4, 2009 12:26 am
All of the politicians and others who think that we should go to Mars are seriously misguided. What is to be gained from a destitute planet but increase the nation debt by more trillions? There are more pressing things than Mars, like the homeless. Yes, Cedar Rapids has many homeless and many are schoolchildren. Nationally, they are countless. People are losing homes and jobs at a rate not seen since the Great Depression.
Two wars depleted the surplus President Bill Clinton built up, and put us trillions in debt. Not to mention the thousands of lives wasted. Every thing cut is for the less fortunate and not for the rich.
Do not blame President Barack Obama for President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney's treasonous errors.
