Letter: Trump’s reaction is a ploy to distract

It is a shame the man heading our nation continues to divide our people by stirring up controversy over football players who choose to kneel during the national anthem.
Whether or not you agree with these men, they have a right to demonstrate without being bullied by President Donald Trump. This is one of the freedoms represented by our anthem and flag. His expletive filled, over-the-top reaction is a ploy to distract from his political failures nationally and internationally.
When he throws a dead cat on the table, he hopes we won't notice anything else.
