5 Questions with Darian Cooper
Darian Cooper:
6'1, 295 lbs. DT from Dematha Catholic HS in Maryland..
1 of 14 DeMatha players that will sign D1 scholarships this year
Teammate of DB Jordan Lomax who will also be a Hawkeye
DeMatha is the same HS that produced current RB Marcus Coker
I was able to chat with Darian this morning and ask him 5 questions about becoming a Hawkeye:
Q: What are you most excited about becoming a Hawkeye?
A: Meeting my teammates and coaches and just developing into a better overall person.
Q: What teammates have you already built a bond with outside of your DeMatha mates?
A: Jim Poggi, Mike Daniels, Quinton Alston and Nico Law
Both Quinton Alston and Nico Law are also incoming recruits
Q: Did the story of the 13 players in the hospital raise any eyebrows for you?
A: Yes, but I talked to the coaches and players and they told me the situation.
Darian's visit to Iowa City was the same weekend as the player's workouts.
Q: What is your #1 goal your freshman year at Iowa?
A: Team goal, go undefeated and my personal goal is to start and be a Freshman All-American.
Q: Do you know the words to the "Iowa Fight Song" or "In Heaven There Is No Beer" yet?
A: No, but I've heard the Iowa Fight Song and I tried to remember it, the second song I have never heard of.
Don't worry Iowa fans, I quickly told Darian the history and sent him the lyrics of "In Heaven There Is No Beer" which then led to his tweet:
"to all my #HAWKEYES i hope to have yall singing in heaven there is no beer alot this year"
I did ask Darian a 6th question, his winner of the Super Bowl tomorrow? Darian's response? "Black and Yellow"
Seems like his head is in the right place.
