No need to rush with hospital care expansions

Mercy's decision to build a Destination Cancer Center has been in the works for two years. St. Luke's has known this before the medical mall was realized. Wishful thinking saying a trust has been broken is useless arguing over competitive power playing.
Mercy planning two years in advance has shown people have the bucks to go ahead with the cancer center. It being brought up shows honest intent to include a healthy open cooperation between the hospitals.
I personally like Mercy's idea a lot better than dropping a bomb with the mall. Why give Cedar Rapids more than it can handle? Des Moines says it is not practical at this time to take on such a venture with Iowa Hospital so close.
Many Cedar Rapids residents are holding their heads above water; why the hurry? The triple-aim initiative is a good idea but not all at once.
