Increased gun control is the wrong answer
The Gazette Opinion Staff

In the wake of the Arizona shootings, it is clear to me that fear will drive some people to push for a renewal of the Clinton era assault weapons ban, and an increased push to restrict access to firearms.
Increasing gun control will make my life no safer, nor any richer, than it already is. The only value in trading liberty for security is a momentary feeling of empowerment that by one's example of temperance society will become more temperate.
Such thinking is a strange paradox of vanity and sheeplike permissiveness that, in the final analysis, has no place in strong, American society.
